The Bridge

There is a bridge, take me across

I know you know the way

In the wilderness I am lost

Connect me to my faith

We have the key, time is free

There is no clock

Through the roses and Spanish moss

Before the bridge the road is crossed

Sleeping Flowers

Buddha sees the flowers sleeping in the Earth

Dreaming of the perfect light to give them birth

Reach within, we are him

The road is long, the line is thin

Soon shadows fall away

Sun will shine and colors stay

Willing to see a perfect past

The sky will open up at last

Wind blows fiercely but not against

It only hopes the trees will bend

That is all the wind can do

Be itself, like me and you

Hidden flowers all around

See ourselves and they are found

The forest chimes, the mist is in

The spirit of it all again begins

Love, Me

Halloween Poem

On the eve of all souls, Halloween

All is forgiven but still unseen

Spirits Dancing all around

Dreams are hovering near the ground

People dress in spooky clothes

Mysteries behind their eyes no one knows

Miracles can happen on this night

A strange and magical window of time

I have chosen to wear no mask

I want the magic time to last

I will be in no disguise

So you can see behind my eyes

I feel Autumn in July

I feel a roar within a sigh

I feel a storm inside a breeze

I feel strong with trembling knees

Hi Sarah,

Thanks so much for painting this adorable

purple Buddha in “August”

The River

The river flows in the sunlight

The waves quiver from the wind

The dancing water stills my thoughts

This is where the world begins

I am winding with the current

Reminded by the past

That the beauty’s in the journey

It’s the beauty that will last

I am traveling on this river now

Connecting with these dreams

In the waves I am protected

This is where the world begins

And this part, my friend is especially for you

Nature writes our destiny in songs we try to hear

Rhythm counts the reasons, answers are so near

Some run and run and run from truth

They leave a trace of fear

It’s alright…it’s all they can do

But they are gone and we are here

So, we are the custodians, keepers of the flame

We sing, we write, we hope, we play

We dance, we paint, we dream

Thank you for being someone who inspires me

The Fantasy

Everybody dreams.  Dreams are what change the world.  Some of us have a stronger belief in the power of dreams than others.  It’s our responsibility to make the dreams real so that others can see them and awaken their own belief in dreams and their power.  To make a dream real, you first have to believe in yourself.

What do I dream about?

I had a fantasy once

I saw the whole world from a crystal castle

I felt like a lucky person

I knew I was strong and I knew that from where I stood,

I could change things, I could make a difference

I wasn’t alone

No, I wasn’t alone, he was with me

It was our fantasy,  we made it together

When our dreams touched it was like a burst of stars

It felt like the emotion of a million hearts

A million of our two hearts

Because we’d built this fantasy before

From our dreams and our love

We believed in it, we knew it was real

We knew it was true

And we agreed to make it last forever

We agreed to make it last forever

Then one day he turned around

He didn’t tell me though

He looked back and saw the world through his past

Through his fears and through his pain

Those were sad things he couldn’t explain

That’s when he went away

A crystal castle isn’t an easy place to stay

I watched him go but I didn’t say goodbye

Because the only thing that separates us is time

I don’t love time

And I don’t love this world

I love him

I love our dreams

And I loved building the crystal castle and living there

But I can’t take care of it alone

My fantasy is gone now

But in some way…I’ve taken it’s place

I believe in the power of dreams

And I am like the crystal

Something clear

Something reflective

Something beautiful…and better than this world

“Gypsy In Control”

Driving “August” the RV through Austin, Texas

such a cool town, can’t wait to go back

Quartzsite, Arizona

driving “August” from St. Louis to Santa Cruz in November

to start recording the new project

the desert was windy but not too hot

Southern Ca. and we’re just about there.

OK I admit, I have been known to stay in motels while driving across our amazing country.  Mostly because it’s quick and the

past few times I’ve driven out to Ca. from St. Louis it’s been to record and I’ve only had a short amount of time to get there.  After this project I’ll be able to explore again.  Here is “August” at a Holiday Inn just outside of L.A.

John Novello

keyboardist extraordinaire

and good friend

thanks for your gorgeous musical ideas

Al Caldwell, my old friend from St. Louis was on a break from touring with Vanessa Williams. I was lucky enough to get him to play on a few of these ballads even though it was in the

middle of a good ol’ St. Louis snow storm.

Thanks AL!

How many strings you got there Al?
